Temple University to Host EducationUSA Academy in Summer 2016
November 23, 2015- Temple University is pleased to announce its selection by the U.S. Department of State, and its cooperative partner, World Learning, to host an EducationUSA Academy in summer 2016. Ten U.S. higher education institutions were selected as 2016 hosts.
The EducationUSA Academy is a three-to-four-week academic program that will provide intensive English language courses, college preparatory content, tours of diverse college and university campuses, and crosscultural activities to self-funded 15- to 17-year old students from around the world. Among the primary objectives of the Academy is to provide opportunities for international students to improve their English skills and become more familiar with the U.S. higher education system, academic culture, campus life, and admissions process. The Academy will create a pipeline to prepare international youth to pursue higher education in the United States by providing participants with the information, skills, and experience necessary to submit strong applications for admission to U.S. colleges and universities.
Potential applicants can apply directly to Temple University until June 10, 2016. For more information on Temple’s program, including application procedures and fees, visit EducationUSA Academy at Temple University.
EducationUSA Academy at Temple University is one of the many programs offered by Temple’s Intensive English Language Program (IELP). The IELP was developed over 40 years ago as a way for non-native speakers to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening competencies. Over the last five years, Temple’s IELP has experienced a 135% increase in enrollment that has involved significant growth in the diversity of its students from around the world. Many factors have fueled that growth including outstanding student services, the continuous addition of comprehensive courses like the EducationUSA Academy, and a successful conditional admission program, Access Temple.
